Ors oral rehydration salts to treat and prevent dehydration due to Diarrhoea and Travellers Gastroenteritis in children and adults
Directions
Empty one sachet into 200ml of fresh drinking water ( plastic measure provided) and stir to dissolve.
For infants or where fresh drinking water is not available, use freshly boiled and cooled water.
Do not boil the solution once it is made up.
Do not add sugar, soft drinks, sweeteners or other fluids.
Reconstituted solution may be stored in fridge for up to 24 hours.
Otherwise, unused solution should be discarded within 1 hour.
Take as required whilst diarrhoea is present.
If vomiting is also present, drink in small amounts at first.
Age of Patient Dosage for prevention of dehydration
under 6 months, half to 1 sachet every 4-6 hours
6-24 months, one sachet every 3-4 hours
2-5 years one to two sachets every 3-4 hours
5-8 years, two sachets every 3-4 hours
8-10 years, one sachet every 1-2 hours
10-12 years, one to two sachets every hour (up to 6-12 sachets in 24 hours)
Adults & children
Over 12 years, one to two sachets after every loose bowel motion (up to 8-12 sachets in 24 hours)
Seek medical advice if diarrhoea persits for more than 6 hours in child under 6 months, 12 hours in child under 3 years, 3-6 years 24 hours and over 6 years 48 hours.
Ingredients
Each 4.9g sachet contains Glucose Electrolyte oral powder. Sodium Chloride 0.47g, Sodium Acid Citrate 0.53g, Potassium Chloride 0.30g, Glucose 3.56g. Also contains Saccharin Sodium.
