Information
Dr. Wolff’s Vagisan Lactic Acid is a pessary containing lactic acid and sodium lactate. It is used to maintain and restore natural pH levels in the vagina. This is normally between 3.8 and 4.4. It quickly and effectively acidifies the vaginal environment, at the same time adjusting it to the normal pH level in the vagina. It also quickly buffers the effects of alkaline bodily fluids such as blood or sperm (whose pH levels are above 7). Lactic acid supports the growth of ‘good’ lactobacilli, which make up the essential part of the vaginal flora.
The benefits of these lactic acid pessaries are:
Maintain & restore vaginal pH levels
Contribute to a healthy vaginal environment
Provides natural protection against infection
Pregnancy safe
Breastfeeding safe
Suitable for long-term use
Contain no heat-sensitive fatty ingredients and therefore need not be refrigerated
No special storage conditions are required
Warnings
Girls should only use Dr. Wolff’s Vagisan Lactic Acid after talking to their doctor, as not enough experience has yet been gained to recommend it generally for use in children. Use of Dr. Wolff’s Vagisan Lactic Acid is not recommended during menstrual periods. You should skip treatment on these days. If you have a vaginal infection at the moment (e. g. increased discharge, discharge with an unpleasant odour, itching and stinging at the vaginal entrance), you should consult your doctor before using Dr. Wolff’s Vagisan Lactic Acid, so that your symptoms can be diagnosed and appropriately treated. You may need medicine or your partner might also need treatment. If your vaginal symptoms worsen or do not improve within 8 days when using Dr. Wolff’s Vagisan Lactic Acid, you should stop using the product and consult a doctor. This applies in particular to women who suffer from severe vaginal dryness (e. g. during the menopause and subsequent years). As Dr. Wolff’s Vagisan Lactic Acid contains no spermicides (substances that kill male sperm), it offers no protection against unwanted pregnancy. If the pessary strip is damaged or if you notice any change in the appearance of the pessaries, do not use the product and inform the manufacturer.

How To Use
Insert one pessary as deep in the vagina as possible in the evening before going to bed. The pessary is easier to insert if it is first moistened under running water. The use of a panty liner is recommended due to the high solubility of the pessaries, which can cause increased discharge. The duration of administration is generally 5 – 7 days. Dr. Wolff’s Vagisan Lactic Acid can also be used two to three times a week over a longer period (one pessary in the evening).
